What is a Concrete Pump?

A concrete pump is used to move concrete from the concrete mixer truck to the location needing concrete. For a line concrete pump this consists of a hose connecting to the back of the concrete mixer truck and running to the needed area. The only downside to this method is the lack of pressure so it is usually used for smaller projects like swimming pools and sidewalks.

As for boom concrete pumps they consist of an electric pump attached to a truck or trailer that is remotely controlled and is capable of going over existing infrastructure and vertically up buildings. The boom concrete pump is capable of pumping high volumes of concrete and is often used on larger construction projects.

What is a Concrete Pump used for?

A concrete pump is used when a concrete mixing truck cannot get to the location to lay the concrete itself. The operator then needs to deem whether the job requires a boom pump or a line pump. If the job is residential or small scale, and in an easily accessible area a line pump is the best option. For larger scale projects or projects in extremely hard to get places a boom pump will work much better.
