A side tipper is a truck that deposits its load to the side of itself, instead of off the back. Because of this the side tipper truck is fitted with more counterweight features, making it safer to use when on uneven ground.

Side tippers have a range of designs that have developed over time to become more useful for more jobs. Some side tipper designs allow the operator to tip the load off either side of the truck, whereas others are a one side tipper. Others are fitted with a lid, making them leak proof.
